World war I, also known as the First World War, the Great War, was a global war originating in Europe that lasted from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918. American president Woodrow Wilson used the strophe of the British novelist H.G.Wells and said:“This is a war to end all wars. ”

More than 70 million military personnel were mobilized in one of the largest wars in history. It was one of the deadliest conflicts in history, and paved the way for major political changes, including revolutions in many of the nations involved. It played an important role in the history of Slovenia as well.

The Battles of the Isonzo were fought along the Isonzo (Soča) river. This is a paradise in Julian Alps, which has to be put on the map of your travel destinations: no matter are you a hiker, a biker, a cyclist, an adventurer or simply enjoying the beauties of the nature from a terrace of a private home.
